Ibanez continues to expand their parlor guitar line up, this time with a limited edition release that features Zilicote wood for the back & sides. The AVNZ15LTD is part of their Artwood Vintage line of acoustic guitars, which feature traditional looking instruments built using modern production methods.

Ibanez AVNZ15LTD

This particular model offers an interesting combination of conventional and exotic tonewood for the body, resulting in a parlor guitar that has a crisp and clear voicing that is more similar to that of modern acoustics. Being a limited edition instrument, it will only be available for a very limited number, with only 30 planned for release in the USA. This means that you’re getting a possible future collector’s item without having to deal with museum level price tags and maintenance issues.

The top of the AVNZ15LTD is crafted from solid sitka spruce, commonly used on acoustics because of its resonance, reliability and more importantly because it ages gracefully. This choice of topwood dictates much of the output tone character, which is quite similar to regular sized acoustics.

Supporting the top of the guitar are back and sides crafted from Ziricote, a type of wood that has unique spider-webbing like patterns and a very earthy color scheme. It provides a nice dark contrast to the light colored natural high-gloss finish solid sitka spruce top, and gives the instrument the appearance of age. While it looks different, it behaves much like Indian rosewood, which results in a clean and clear tone ideal for fingerpicking styles.

Having been made by Ibanez, you can expect this traditional looking guitar to be as comfortable to play as other modern looking instruments. It sports a soft V neck shape, a nut width of 1.69″ and a scale length of 24.96″, all of which make the neck easy to fret and play. Both the bridge and fretboard are crafted from rosewood, the neck has 18 total frets and it meets the body at the 12th fret.

Other features of the Ibanez AVNZ15LTD include flamed maple body binding, mother of pearl inlays, abalone rosette, bone nut and saddle and Grover gold open gear tuners w/ butterbean knobs.

The limited edition Ibanez AVNZ15LTD is currently being sold online for just under $600, and it is quite a steal considering it being a limited run instrument and its specs.

I just bought one of these the other day at a great price. Does anyone know how many where made in total? I love in south africa.

Early this month I bought one new, while visiting Constantinople.
The price was unbelievably attractive, as the Turkish lira has depreciated 50% since 2015.
Yes, it would be nice to know the total number these LTD model guitars were produced.

  3. Way later on in the conversation I would also like to know how many were produced. I just bought a very lightly used one and am totally delighted, I have some very much more expensive guitars so why do I keep picking up this little gem ?
