Gretsch unveiled new guitars at the recently concluded NAMM Show, including two new parlor guitars. One of which is the G9511 Style 1 Single-0 Parlor, a traditional style solid top parlor guitar that's affordable and accessible, thanks to the brand's worldwide distribution courtesy of Fender. It is currently available for pre-order from major online retailers, and is slated for a March 2017 release.

The overall cosmetic look is obviously inspired by old school parlor guitars, with its straightforward design that includes aged white binding, custom burst finish (Appalachia Cloudburst) and matching concentric ring rosette. The top of the body is crafted from solid spruce, carved into the traditional parlor guitar shape. The top is supported by laminated back and sides, and features modern quartersawn X-bracing, to give the instrument modern reliability and resonance. Body depth is also narrower in keeping with traditional parlor guitar designs. Gretsch describes the resulting sound as being pristine, yet intimate, full and silky without the “boxy” or “tubby” overtones common in this body size.

The neck of the Gretsch G9511 Style Single-0 Parlor is crafted from mahogany, with a satin finish and a soft-"V" profile. It is topped by a rosewood fingerboard with a shorter scale length of 24.85", and a fingerboard radius of 12.6". It has a total of 19 medium size frets and joins the body at the 12th fret, with a nutwidth of 1.73" following old builds. This combination of narrow nut width, comfortable profile and short scale length makes this parlor guitar very easy to play. Finally, the guitar feature mother of pearl diamond shape inlays, which adds to the overall old school look, and helps you know where your fretting hand is.

Other features of the G9511 include having a rosewood bridge, vintage style open back tuners, tortoise with pearl headstock logo, and bone nut. It also features a wavy shaped saddle that the company designed to help improve the overall tone of the instrument.

You can now pre-order the Gretsch G9511 Style 1 Single-0 Parlor for $299.99, which is quite affordable considering its solid top body and cosmetic features. It would've been nice if an acoustic-electric version was made available. For more information and other details, you can head over to Gretsch Guitars.
