Cordoba C9 Parlor Guitar

Cordoba is known for their wide selection of nylon string guitars, and as expected their line up includes nylon string parlor guitar models. It’s impressive how this guitar company has grown so big, to the point that they have acquired Guild, which is another big name guitar brand. With their growing experience and resources, the company is in a great position to design and produce quality and affordable nylon string parlor guitars, one of which is the Cordoba C9.

This parlor guitar is actually a 7/8 size instrument that follows traditional Spanish guitar style constructions, the only difference being this instrument is smaller and has a more midrange focused voicing. What you’re getting is the same feel and tone of traditional classical guitars, but at a smaller and more comfortable couch friendly guitar size.

More importantly, the Cordoba C9 comes with an all solidwood body, a premium feature that are normally only found on instruments that are priced higher. The top is crafted from solid Canadian cedar, while the back and sides are crafted from solid mahogany back and sides, a combination that is highly favored by classical guitarists for its warm and sweet tone. The smaller 7/8 size body will result in less low end and punch, but will make up for it with emphasis on the mids, making this an ideal guitar for recording lead lines.

The neck is crafted from mahogany neck, topped by a rosewood fingerboard. The scale length does not stray too far from standard size guitars, at 24.8″, while the nut width follows a wide traditional classical configuration at 1.96″. This means that playability will not be too far from standard sized instruments. It has a total of 19 frets and joins the body at the 12th fret.

Other features include Indian rosewood binding, Indian rosewood bridge, Spanish style heel, hand carved necks and braces and domed soundboards. Additional cosmetic features include 6 ply colored wood top purfling, 3 ply maple and ebony back and side purfling, and an elegant mother-of-pearl with ebony “Esteso” weave rosette.

The C9 Parlor was previously known as C9 Dolce, but the name was changed most probably because of the resurgence of interest in “parlor” style instruments. For more information on the Cordoba C9 Parlor, visit Cordoba Guitars.
